Freelance Arts Worker

From the experience gained from my other roles, I have now begun to establish my own portfolio of transferable work offers, such as Freelance producing, writing, and website developing/designing roles. Of course, if there is something you’d like written about, perhaps a new place in town, venture, or past-time, I’m all yours. Maybe you’d like to read about that certain thing instead of thinking about it, maybe you’d like to share this thing with others, or maybe you’d like some words to testify this given thing and simply make it known to the world through the reflective eyes of somebody else. Check out my writing page to get a slither of what I enjoy doing, keep your eyes peeled on the Blog page (developing), and keep scrolling to find out a little more about what other freelance bits make up me.

Roles
2020 - Present

Freelance Producer, Writer, Website Developer

~ Since January last year to the end of 2021, I worked for Strangelove Time-based Media Festival as a freelance producer, marketing coordinator, and festival advisor, to help deliver a digital 2020 programme, as well as plan for a physical iteration which was suspended due to Covid-19.
~ From my experience in digital copywriting and design, others - both locally and nationally - have also asked me to support with building their own sites via Squarespace, like for example; renowned composer John Woolrich, writer and educationalist Myra Barrs, and photographer and artist Mick Williamson.
~ From such relationships made, I have developed to support John Woolrich with his programme of events (Folkestone New Music) consistently, through media advice, production help, and event organising. We do this in various spaces across town, from the beginnings in Customs House at Folkestone Harbour Arm, to local churches, community gardens and cafes. In the future, I will go on to support Woolrich further with projects and programmes to come, in working to engage new audiences with classical music alongside other art forms within unexpected spaces.
~ I am now approached to share my expertise with local organisations, businesses, and individuals within associative fields. Alongside this, for my expertise, creative eye, general knowledge and connections for festivals/events and making such accessible/engaging for the benefit of Kent’s arts/cultural/lifestyle/community-minded scenes. Recently, I was invited to talk to students at a local primary school about what I do in Folkestone, so they can feel inspired and get an idea of what opportunities may be possible for them in the place they live.
~ Now, I refer to myself as an emerging thought-piece writer for these subjects - having written and shared with the world my thoughts and journalistic perspectives. Head over to the ‘Writing’ page to find out more.
